Tourism Partners Gather at Pimlico to Discuss Racing’s Tourism Potential

On April 9, Sal Sinatra, Vice President and General Manager of Pimlico, Laurel Park and the Maryland Jockey Club, Ross Pedicord, Executive Director, Maryland Horse Industry Board, and TFA staffers met at Pimlico to discuss opportunities for public/private partnerships. Group tourism prospects, signage, welcome center programs and marketing synergies throughout Maryland’s horse industry were discussed. According to a study by the Maryland Horse Breeders Association, the horse industry in Maryland is valued at $1.6 billion, which provides nearly 30,000 jobs and approximately $72 million in tax revenue.
