Lt. Governor Rutherford Attends Unveiling at the Frederick Douglass Park on the Tuckahoe
On September 1, marking the first day of International Underground Railroad Month, Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford joined Assistant Secretary of Commerce Tom Riford and other state and local leaders for the unveiling of new outdoor exhibits at the Frederick Douglass Park on the Tuckahoe in Talbot County. “Recognizing the significance of the Underground Railroad, and dedicating this month to appreciating that significance and teaching it to younger generations is a wonderful, and important, step,” said the Lt. Governor.
The new exhibits were produced by OTD, Talbot County and partner Design Minds, INC. “I hope it brings greater awareness to the history of our State and encourages people to look into the lives of both Douglass and Harriet Tubman and others who faced adversity,” said Lt. Governor Rutherford.
